Over the last 35 years, Wayne Levy has run more than 100,000 miles. What does he do when he’s not out running more than halfway to the Moon? He serves on the Boston Athletic Association Board of Governors and the Advisory Board for Back on My Feet Boston, and he manages RunBoston, a company that provides historical running tours in Boston. Bryan and Peter get Wayne to give them the lowdown on the benefits of running a “daily dime,” find out what happened the first time Wayne attempted to run the Boston Marathon, and go in-depth on ways to avoid injury. Plus, Peter provides an update on Week 4 of the Clyde Army Countdown.
Peter survives running 18 miles on the treadmill, while Bryan considers never using a treadmill again. Then they talk with two runners who will be running the Boston Marathon together: Tim Sullivan, a visually impaired runner (and proud member of the Clyde Army) and writer Mark Remy (dumbrunner.com and Runner’s World) who will be Tim’s guide. They talk about how Tim got into running, how Mark has settled into runner’s paradise (a.k.a. Portland, OR), and how they came to be running the marathon together.

They are not medical doctors. Turns out they’re not psychologists, either. That's why Bryan and Peter are joined by Dr. Chris Carter, team psychologist for Spaulding Hospital's Race for Rehab Boston Marathon team. They discuss why runners run, what the brain goes through on long runs, and how to tackle training for the big race. Plus, Peter gives his Clyde Army Countdown update for week eight.

As Peter’s marathon training continues, he pitches a new motivational segment for the show to Bryan. Then, they attempt to interview a guest via Skype, but the internet doesn’t cooperate. They end the show having to rely on some serious “self talk” to stay positive.

Peter's marathon training has him dreaming about running. Meanwhile, Bryan is back out on the trails and experiences a really tough workout. Then they are joined by the inspirational Bill McCabe who began running in his 50s and has been crushing it ever since. He has run marathons on all 7 continents, ran the Boston Marathon route 26 weeks in a row, and still has some major running goals to share.

The Run-in-Place Party and Podcast Extravaganza was an event like no other. As a snowstorm raged outside, HWYRT joined forces with Coach Dan Fitzgerald and his team at the Heartbreak Hill Running Company for running, shopping, beer drinking, and, of course, podcasting. Partygoers mingled and tried out the amazing treadmill classes, while Bryan and Peter talked with new and experienced runners about how they train, the races they've run, and what they have planned next. The night ended with a raffle that helped two runners add over $1,000 to benefit their Boston Marathon charity running teams.

HWYRT is back in the WGBH Studio at the Boston Public Library, which triggers a memory for Bryan. Peter continues his training for the Boston Marathon. And Bryan gets a kick out of Peter’s habit of always working toward the .2 of 26.2 miles. Then they are joined by veteran runner, and Executive Director of Back On My Feet, Theresa Lynn. Back on My Feet, a national organization operating in 12 major cities coast to coast, combats homelessness through the power of running, community support, and essential employment and housing resources.
